Friday's Ruler: Venus, Planet of Love
Friday's magic involves love, pleasure and beauty; by honoring the gifts of the senses we also soothe the gentle heart. For all acts of love and pleasure are sacred to this Goddess; honor Her by making somebody feel their most beautiful best. According to ancient folklore, emerald green and the scent of rose or vanilla share the vibration of Venus, and can help one attune to the gifts of the "Goddess of Love”.
Friday, Day of Venus.
Venus rules love, art, beauty, friendship, attraction, sensuality, and harmony.
Venus days are wonderful for rituals of love, creating harmony, enhancing creativity, and beautifying whatever one touches.
When I work with Venus magic, I create an altar with emerald green altar candles and altar cloths, with offerings of roses, rose tea, chocolates, and pink champagne. I also offer some symbols of the four elements on every altar … more on the elements in another issue!
Since we are in the waning phase of the moon, focus on what you need to release in order to receive more of what you want. See waning moon ritual for letting go
She loves anything luxurious, beautiful, and sensuous, so use your imagination when creating your altar!
Other ideas:
- roses or other flowers
- classical images of Venus
- read the Orphic Hymn to Aphrodite (google it: there are also some great ones recorded on youTube!)
Write a petition to Her, asking her to bless you with a specific request. On Venus’ Day, during Her planetary hour, do your ritual regularly, and keep your altar alive, clean, and a place of honor. [I find the first hour after sunrise works best, but there are more to choose from if that doesn’t work for you! (See planetary hours calculator, below.) Make sure to adjust your location, and calculate for the city nearest you! I also recommend that you bookmark it since I will be referring to planetary hours quite often!]
In ritual, I always commune deeply with whatever spirits I invoke, and journal about what I am petitioning for, whether it’s for a tangible result, an insight for a solution, recording my experiences, allowing the subconscious free to explore while I am in the ceremonial space and mindset.

Mars trines Chiron in the early morning hours; healing dreams and inner work are especially heightened for the last few days, stretching into next week. Physical exercise can be especially helpful now, and can be used to channel frustration or restlessness into something positive.

Chiron and the north node are closely aligned to this aspect, allowing insight into future paths, supported by emotional energy and innovative brainstorming.

Saturday's magic involves self-responsibility; this is the planetary energy to attune to if you want to change certain habits and need the willpower necessary to stay on course. Saturn's energy is positive for calming the mind when it wanders out of control, and can be attuned to in order to achieve a more peaceful meditative practice. According to ancient folklore, dark indigo blue and the scent of myrrh or copal share the vibration of Saturn, and can help one attune to the gifts of this "Planet of Discipline”.
Energies have been high all this week, building to the exact square between Mars and Uranus tonight. Astrologer Austin Coppock called them “dangerous friends”, triggering the Mars / Saturn opposition from July 1st.
Mars, The planet of War, meets Uranus, the planet of the unexpected; when the two of them meet in a harsh aspect such as the square, the clash between them can be harsh and sudden.
This is a good time to wipe your slate clean and purge what is no longer serving you because … who has time for that? You have to make room for those things that your heart can no longer ignore.
The fixed signs [Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio] are most affected, and those of you with prominent planetary points in fixed signs will feel this most intensely [Mars is at 13 deg 55’ in Leo, and Uranus is at 13 deg 55’ in Taurus.]

I like to imagine a golden ray of light flowing from Sol into my body and aura, gently moving things out of my life that are no longer needed, whatever the obstacle, including old hurts, limiting beliefs, and self-criticism.
After the clearing, imagine the golden energies filling your heart and aura with empowerment and success.
