Friday's magic involves love, pleasure and beauty; by honoring the gifts of the senses we also soothe the gentle heart. For all acts of love and pleasure are sacred to this Goddess; honor Her by making somebody feel their most beautiful best. Venus magic also touches on congeniality, harmony with others, and creative ventures … as well as prosperity! Venus is considered to be one of the two “benefics” in traditional astrology [along with Jupiter]; according to ancient folklore, emerald green and the scent of rose or vanilla share the vibration of Venus, and can help one attune to the gifts of the "Goddess of Love”.

TODAY’S OVERVIEW
This is a day to get things done; when the Moon is in a positive aspect with Saturn, it is easier to get the tough stuff done, the things you know you “should” do … get the toughest thing done, first thing in the morning … you’ll be glad to check that task off your list! What is the one thing that would free you once you finally completed it? I promise. You’ll thank me later.

Since that is the only strong aspect all day, and you will take care of that pesky task before noon … well, the rest of the day will be a breeze!

Take some time to honor Venus today …

Not only is it Her day, but the Moon is in Libra, which is one of the two signs She rules!

Do something creative.

Make something beautiful.

Wear something lovely.

Ask someone out on a date.

Go somewhere you might be seen.

What would make your heart sing? HAIL, VENUS!

RITUALS for the Goddess of Love and Pleasure

Friday, Day of Venus.
Venus rules love, art, beauty, friendship, attraction, sensuality, and harmony.

Venus days are wonderful for rituals of love, creating harmony, enhancing creativity, and beautifying whatever one touches.

When I work Venus magic, I create an altar with emerald green altar candles and altar cloths, with offerings of rose tea, chocolates, and pink champagne. I also offer some symbols of the four elements on every altar … more on the elements in another issue!

She loves anything luxurious, beautiful, and sensuous, so use your imagination when creating your altar!

Other ideas:
- roses or other flowers
- classical images of Venus
- read the Orphic Hymn to Aphrodite (google it: there are also some great ones recorded on youTube!)

Write a petition to Her, asking her to bless you with a specific request. On Venus’ Day, during Her planetary hour, do your ritual regularly, and keep your altar alive, clean, and a place of honor. [I find the first hour after sunrise works best, but there are more to choose from of that doesn’t work for you! See planetary hours calculator, at the very bottom of this page. Make sure to adjust your location, and calculate for the city nearest you! I also recommend the you bookmark it, since I will be referring to planetary hours quite often!]

In ritual, I always commune deeply with whatever spirits I invoke, and journal about what I am petitioning for, whether it’s for a tangible result, an insight for a solution, recording my experiences, allowing the subconscious free to explore while I am in the ceremonial space and mindset.

Magic is individual. You know, inherently, how to make your own kind of magic.

There is no “one way” to do magic. I believe in “freeform shamanic ritual trance ecstasy” … what takes you there? What frees your soul and mind?
